What do you remember about the first Apostle, Andrew?
Without some research, I personally can’t think of much about Andrew. He is one of the lesser known Apostles, and mentioned only briefly in the Bible.
However, his message goes deep. John 1: 41, “The first thing Andrew did (after he had met Christ) was to find his brother Simon and tell him we have found the Messiah.”
Then, in John 6:8-9, Andrew introduces the boy with five small loaves and two small fish to Jesus who then fed 5,000.
Introducing someone to Christ can be a world-changing event, mind you. Have you ever thought that sharing the word of God with just one person could impact thousands? Seems pretty far fetched, doesn’t it?
I bet when Andrew introduced Simon, also known as Peter to Christ, he would have never foresaw what would happen in Peter’s life.
Jump ahead to Act 2:40-41, where Peter addressed the crowd in Israel, “With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, save yourselves from this corrupt generation. Those who accepted his message that day were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.”
In summary, thousands of souls were saved through Peter sharing the message of Christ. Andrew, having a very small role in the Bible, had a very large role in introducing Simon Peter to Christ.
How often have you shared the word of God with others? Don’t be afraid to communicate God’s love to others. You, as a Christian, are commanded to do so.
