Long before J.D. Shelburne had become almost a household name in Kentucky music circles, he made an unforgettable stop in Lawrenceburg.
“I headlined the Burgoo Festival in 2008,” he says with a laugh.. “I played on a stage that was really a wagon. Every time we moved, it seemed like the stage moved too.
“Someone told me that if I was going to play at the Burgoo Festival, I would have to eat some of the burgoo. So I did. They brought it to me in a little styrofoam cup. It was like souped up beef stew. It was awesome!”
