Sheriff candidate cited for large sign

-A A +A

Burkhead says he will comply before misdemeanor, fine kicks in

By Ben Carlson

Sheriff hopeful Rex Burkhead was issued a zoning violation and a cease and desist order last Monday for allegedly violating the county’s sign ordinance.

He was cited for a campaign sign on US 127 Bypass, just north of McDonald’s.

The ordinance requires political signs to be no larger than 16 square feet. Burkhead’s sign, which sits atop a goose-neck trailer, appears to be about 12 feet by 8 feet.
