The Anderson County softball team earned a big win over Woodford County on Wednesday, defeating the Yellow Jackets 4-3 in Versailles.

Molly Burkhead led the Anderson attack with three hits in four at-bats. Burkhead, a freshman, stole two bases and scored two runs.

Jessie Crouch smacked a pair of doubles and drove in two runs for the Lady Bearcats. Anderson scored twice in the third and twice in the fifth.
Corrin Robinson had an RBI single in the third.

Kelsey New smacked a run-scoring double in the fifth.

Anderson pitcher Mackenzie Peavler survived a rough third inning when she gave up three earned runs, to get the victory over Woodford.

“We hit the ball well and our defense played good,” said Anderson coach Brian Glass.

“It is really starting to come together with this team.”
