Jack Wells Memorial Scramble set

The second annual Jack Wells Memorial Golf Classic will be held at Wild Turkey Trace Golf Course in Lawrenceburg on Saturday, Sept. 22.

The scramble is designed to raise money for the Father Charles McDonald Scholarship Fund and other outreach programs of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. The scramble will tee off at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.

The cost is $60 per player. Foursomes can play for $200, or $180 if signed and paird for by Friday, Aug. 31. The cost of the scramble includes 18 holes of golf along with a cart.

During the day, there will also be a 50-50 putting contest, mulligans, hole prizes and other entertainment and prizes.

Golfers can start the day with a continental breakfast from 7-8 a.m. Lunch and cold drinks will also be available.

Organizers of the scramble invite non-golfers to sponsor a hole or sponsor youth golfers. For more information, contact Bill White at 839-1144.

 

Bearcat basketball 5K set

The Anderson County Bearcat basketball 5K run/walk is set for Saturday, Oct. 27 at 9 a.m. The race will start behind Anderson County Middle School and raises money for the Anderson County High School boys' basketball team. The Anderson News wants your sports news but it must be received by deadlines in order to be published in timely fashion. Announcements and news briefs should be submitted by noon on Friday for inclusion in the following week's paper. Weekend results are accepted until 9 a.m. on Monday.
