Anderson County High School students Lauren Paige Lawless and John Travis Wickizer and Christian Academy of Lawrenceburg students Forrest Lee Bowman and Courtney Shaylyn Burton were selected as 2012 Governor’s Scholars.
A statewide selection program chose the 1,073 participants from nominations submitted from each Kentucky school district, according to the press release. Criteria included academic records and test scores, teacher recommendations, extracurricular activities and essays.
According to a press release, the Governor’s Scholars program allows students to spend five weeks on a college campus to “exchange ideas and discover different points of view while interacting with other students and learning new disciplines.”
This year’s program was held at three different locations: Bellarmine University from June 17 to July 21; Murray State University from June 23 to July 27; and Centre College from June 24 to July 28.
