A surprise third candidate has filed to run for Anderson County sheriff.
Donald J. “Jeff” McCormick, of 568 S. Main St., filed by the April 1 deadline as an independent candidate for sheriff, according to an open records request fulfilled by the Anderson County clerk’s office.
McCormick, a former Kentucky Fish and Wildlife employee, will face the winner of the May 18 Democratic primary between incumbent Sheriff Troy Young and challenger Rex Burkhead, also a former Fish and Wildlife employee.
