FRANKFORT -- Franklin County turned numerous Anderson County mistakes into baskets during the third quarter on its way to a 45-41 win in girls’ basketball action Friday night.

Trailing 24-19, Franklin turned up the defensive pressure to go on a 14-1 run and take control of the game. Anderson cut the lead to three points on three separate occasions in the fourth quarter, but could not get the break down the stretch.

“I think Franklin County wanted this game a little more than we did,” Anderson coach Tony Kays said. “If we had played as hard the whole game as we did the last five minutes, we would have been in good shape.”

Eriel McKee led Anderson with 18 points. The Lady Bearcats finished the regular season at 19-8. As the top seed in the 30th District Tournament, the Lady Bearcats await the winner of Shelby County and Eminence in Tuesday’s district semi-final game.

Franklin County improved to 18-11. For a complete report, see the Feb. 23 edition of The Anderson News.
