Tight-lipped fiscal court approves deal for new sheriff's department

-A A +A

Sources say building owner will obtain grants to fund deal

By Ben Carlson

The Anderson County Sheriff’s Department could be moving into a new home in the near future.

Maybe.

The Anderson County Fiscal Court gave unanimous consent for County Attorney Bobbi Jo Lewis to draw up a contract for the county to obtain a commercial building at the corner of Court and Main streets during its meeting last Tuesday night.

Magistrate Juretta Wells was not at the meeting.

The vote followed a lengthy closed session, and no specifics on the deal were discussed.
