Tipton claims local Junior Miss crown for 2009

Two days after being named Anderson County's Junior Miss 2009, Singrid Tipton was still in shock.

" 'Participant No. 12, Singrid Tipton' - I keep replaying it in my mind," Tipton said Monday afternoon. "It's almost unfathomable. I was not expecting to win."

Tipton not only won, but nearly swept every category, grabbing fitness, self-expression, and creative and performing arts awards as well.

All of this year's 21 participants were juniors at Anderson County High School.
