Toastmasters receive speaking awards

Toastmasters International recently recognized Cynthia Brandt and Marian McKee of Lawrenceburg with its Competent Communicator (CC) award. This is the first level of communication certification in the organization.
To achieve the CC certification, members must present 10 speeches from the Competent Communication manual. Toastmasters offers two educational tracks: one in communication with four levels and one in leadership with three levels.
Brandt is a member and treasurer of the Capital City Toastmasters Club, which meets weekly at noon at the John C. Watts Federal Building in downtown Frankfort.
Brandt works as a case consultant for Disability Determination Services in Frankfort.
McKee is also a member of the Toastmasters Club.
Toastmasters International is a nonprofit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of clubs. Founded in October 1924, the organization currently has more than 280,000 members in 13,500 clubs in 116 countries.
