A dilapidated home on Hammond Road remains standing despite a fire chief’s warning to tear it down, a district court judge’s order to tear it down and the potential for $85,000 in fines.
The home, which is caving in, first made headlines over a year ago when it was declared unsafe by the county fire chief, who gave its owner, Steve Gay, 10 days to tear it down.
Gay didn’t do it.
Gay was then cited and ordered to appear in district court, where a judge gave him until July 5 to tear it down.
