Nineteenth century British Baptist preacher Charles Spurgeon shared the following story: A boy in the streets, selling mince pies, kept crying “hot mince pies!” A gentleman bought one and found it to be quite cold. “Boy,” he said, “why do you call these pies hot?” The boy retorted “That’s the name they go by, sir!”
