It was a big weekend for Anderson County’s Turpin family during the Mid-South Conference baseball and softball tournaments.

Jeremy Turpin, a sophomore infielder, collected three hits, walked twice and drove in two runs as St. Catharine upset top-seeded Campbellsville 9-3 on Friday night. He had another hit in an 8-7 win over the University of the Cumberlands, but was 0-for-3 with a walk as St. Catharine fell to Shawnee State, 8-4 in the winner’s bracket final Sunday.

St. Catharine and Campbellsville are set to go at it again on Friday with the winner playing Shawnee State for the title.

At Danville, Jeremy Turpin’s sister, Courtney Turpin, also had a big tournament for Campbellsville. The freshman pitcher went 5.1 innings, giving up five hits and three earned runs, while getting the win in Campbellsville’s 8-5 victory over Cumberlands in the second round. Saturday, Turpin was credited with the win in a 12-5 win over Rio Grande.

Campbellsville advanced to the championship game against Lindsey Wilson. That date and time had not been determined at press time.
