Two hurt when car slams into cow

One person remained hospitalized in serious condition Monday after the vehicle she was riding in slammed into a cow last Thursday night on Highway 151 near Alton.

Lee Lancaster, 24, of 810 Tyrone Pike, Versailles, sustained head injuries in the accident that also sent the driver of the car, Loren Lancaster, to the hospital with serious injuries.

Both were transported by Anderson County EMS to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.

A 2-year old, Jason West, was also in the vehicle. He was transported from the scene by Anderson County EMS to Frankfort Regional Medical Center. Loren Lancaster has since been released from the hospital.

Loren Lancaster was headed north on Highway 151 and was attempting to pass two vehicles when his vehicle struck a cow in the road.

The collision did significant damage to Lancaster’s car, smashing in the front end, windshield and a portion of its roof.

The cow, which was owned by Kerry Smith, was killed at the scene, according to the sheriff’s department.

No other vehicles were involved in the collision, which happened near 1933 Graefenburg Road.

No charges have been filed.
