Two impaled by fence in Harrodsburg accident

Two Harrodsburg women were impaled by a fence during a single-car accident Thursday night in Mercer County.

A Lawrenceburg man, Samuel L. Oates, 18, of Long Road, was driving the car.

Both the women, Elizabeth B. Perque, 17, and Lou Anne Shearer, 21, were passengers in the vehicle.

According to reports from the Mercer County Sheriff's Department, Oates was driving the car along Curry Pike. Roadway conditions were listed as wet, while the weather was cloudy and it was still daylight outside.
