UPDATED 2 P.M. THURSDAY — The Lawrenceburg man who apparently jumped to his death from the Tyrone Bridge yesterday afternoon has been identified as Jeffrey L. Wainscott, 43, of 207 Suzanne St.
Deputy Anderson County Coroner David Walden confirmed Wainscott's identity, and said the investigation into his death continues by his office and Kentucky State Police.
Walden said an autopsy was performed Thursday morning and it was determined that Wainscott died from blunt force trauma that resulted from his body slamming into the water.
Walden said his death has not yet been ruled a suicide. Asked about a note that was described as a "suicide note" on a 911 Dispatch Center transmission that was found in a vehicle parked on the Lawrenceburg side of the bridge, Walden would only say that it was a "note," and could not comment further due to the ongoing investigation.
Wainscott's body was pulled from the Kentucky River around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, about an hour after the initial call was broadcast by emergency dispatch.
A witness called police after seeing Wainscott on the bridge. When the witness turned around, the man was gone, according to police at the scene.
Police said another witness saw the man’s body in the river.
The Anderson County Sheriff’s Department, Lawrenceburg Police Department, Kentucky State Police and Anderson County EMS responded to the scene.
