Fifth grade students at Emma B. Ward Elementary recently made fleece blankets to donate to homeless shelters and orphanages over the Christmas season.
Art instructor Tamara Williams said fifth grade parent Jewel Bingham donated all of the fleece material for the students to work with, and the children spent about five class periods cutting and tying the blankets together.
Williams said she wasn’t sure where they would donate the 25-30 blankets, but they will probably go to a homeless shelter or orphanage in Lexington.
