This report from Andrew Bird, Superintendent of Schools, ran in the May 24, 1962 issue of The Anderson News about the Rutherford School.
Rutherford is about 15 miles from Lawrenceburg and serves the southern part of the county. It is the center formed by consolidating in 1949-50 Young, Champion, Searcy, Goodlett, Kays, Royalty, part of Hickory Grove and Rutherford, all one-room schools ranging in enrollment from 11 to 23.
The present enrollment is 139 and five teachers, four them with college degrees, and a teacher there.
