Welcome to our new website!

Hello all! Welcome to our new website. We hope that you enjoy all of the new features our site offers, but in order to enjoy them, I thought you might like to know what they are.

Please browse around for yourself and stay a while. But to get you started I'll hit some of the highlights, especially on the homepage (www.theandersonnews.com).

Other than the obvious new look of the site, just under the week's top stories, you'll be able to see videos and slide shows of events and people in the community. Now, if you see an Anderson News-owned photo in the slide show that you like, you'll be able to purchase it from within the slide show itself.

And, by reading this post, you've apparently already noticed that one new feature is the ability to post blogs. These can easily be accessed on the homepage by scrolling about halfway down the page, but blogs can also be found under the "Opinion" heading. We're working on getting blogs started about topics you're interested in, so let us know what you'd like to see.

Next to the blogs on the homepage, you'll also be able to see what our most popular stories and forum topics are.

Scroll down a little further and you'll see our new "Pet of the week" feature. Click on the pet to see its description or to submit your own pet for consideration for the next Pet of the Week. Just below the nomination link, you'll see the new "Adopt a Pet" feature. Each week we'll show a pet from the Anderson Humane Society, and I bet you'll be tempted to go visit and take it home.

Back on the homepage, next to the featured pet, you'll notice a list of community links. Here you'll be able to access the city's website, the Anderson County Schools' website and others with one click of the mouse.

To the right of the community links and up just a tad, you'll see the current week's front page. As well as seeing all of our stories online, you'll be click through an "e-edition." This edition looks just like the print edition.

Take some time to browse around the site, and if you have any questions just let us know.
