I am from Ohio and will be visiting Lawrenceburg on July 20th-22nd. I'll be traveling with two of my guy friends. Any suggestions on what to do in/near Lawrenceburg besides the distilleries? Looking forward to the trip!
Nothing,Nothing at all.
Lawrenceburg offers other entertainment besides distilleries, such as local restaurants, shopping and outdoor recreation.
Heavens to Betsy!, located on our Main Street, offers soup, sandwiches and great desserts. Talk of the Town is a similar restaurant and it has a killer bourbon bread pudding. If you need a snack in the early morning hours, Mardi Gras Donuts off of US 127 Bypass north features authentic New Orleans beignets and bacon topped doughnuts. For dinner and good comfort food, head to Anthony's on Broadway. We also have several fast food restaurants as well.
Lawrenceburg is home to two local wineries in case you'd like a change of pace from the Bourbon Trail: Lovers Leap and Rising Son's winery.
If you're interested in local art, there are two art emporiums and shops right on the Bourbon Trail: Susan Burge's Elements studio, located right next to Four Roses, and the Art Emporium, located located at Highway 513 West and 1136 Bond Mills Road down the road from Four Roses. Elements studio also offers paint-your-own pottery.
Our community park has a pretty good Frisbee golf course. Wild Turkey Trace is our local golf course, and it offers a pretty inexpensive 18-hole course and driving range.
The other great thing about Lawrenceburg is its proximity to other towns in Central Kentucky.
Frankfort, the state capitol, has a beautiful historic district and downtown. Take a drive out to Versailles or Midway to see the horse farms and the architecture of old, Southern-style mansions.
Lexington, home of the University of Kentucky, is about 45 minutes away, and it offers a wide variety of entertainment you'd find in a busy college town: the Kentucky Horse Park (which has equine exhibitions and horse racing), bars, malls, concerts, theater, and more.
