Rain last week washed out a yard sale fundraiser for a Beaver Lake Road man seriously injured in a one-vehicle wreck last month.
The yard sale is now scheduled for Friday at 310 Djeddah Drive.
Shannon Hall, 44, sustained serious injuries including punctured lungs, a broken arm, 11 broken ribs, a fractured spine and lacerations to his face, according to his sister, Tonia Chilton.
“The doctors at UK told him at first they didn’t think he’d make it,” Chilton said. “But UK is good and was able to pull him out of it.”
The wreck happened about a mile from the Beaver Lake Marina when Hall’s van appeared to have missed a sharp curve and slammed into some trees.
The roof of the van was caved in over Hall’s head, but he was able to get out and walk about a half mile before someone picked up him and drove him to his home.
Another fundraiser is scheduled for Aug. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Edwardo’s Pizza on Glensboro Road.
Chilton said the family will accept any items for the yard sale that will help benefit the family financially.
“He’s not going to be able to go back to work for a while, and his wife is pregnant,” she said. “He is still having trouble with his breathing, especially when he walks around.
“He’s going to have a lot of follow-up doctor appointments, and needs help with buying medicine. Anything people can donate will be a big help.”
Chilton said Hall no longer has a vehicle, and hopes to find a place to rent in Lawrenceburg while he recovers.
Donations can be dropped off at 123 Ballard St. or picked up by calling Chilton at 502-680-3040.
