Anderson happy with performance on big stage

LOUISVILLE -- Anderson County did not finish among the team leaders at the state Class 3A track and field meet Saturday, but there were still plenty of smiles in the Bearcat camp.

The meet was held at the University of Louisville.

“To see how we did as a unit, it is quite an improvement,” Anderson assistant coach Jason Dickerson said. Dickerson was in charge of the team as head coach Robert Meacham was fulfilling a military commitment.

Junior Tyson Yett was Anderson's top individual performer, medaling twice. He placed fourth in the high jump at 6-feet-2-inches and finishing sixth in the triple jump at 43-09.

Even though they did not medal, the Bearcats were thrilled with a school record 1:35.08 in the boys' 4x200-meter relay and personal bests by Paul Leskiv's 10-06 in the pole vault and Casey Moninger's 51.49 in the 400-meter dash.

Complete results and a full story, along with many photos, will be available in the May 22 edition of The Anderson News.
