  • God knows more about you than ‘Big Brother’ ever will

    The suspicions of conspiracy theorists seem to have been confirmed in recent weeks with the revelation that the IRS has been targeting specific groups and individuals for stricter scrutiny, such as members of the tea party movement, religious groups and other so-called conservative entities; it seems that even some families who have adopted were placed under their microscope.
    To add fuel to the fire, it now seems that the NSA has been collecting surveillance data from United States citizens through the monitoring of phone calls and e-mails.

    Mount Eden Christian
    welcomes new pastor
    The Mount Eden Christian Church family welcomes Larry Clarke as its senior minister. Clarke’s first Sunday was April 28. He resides in Lawrenceburg with his wife, Renita, and their daughter, Elizabeth. Their oldest daughter, Sarah, is married and lives in Frankfort.
    Clarke brings years of secular experience as well as ministry experience to the pulpit, according to a press release.

    to hold summer gospel gathering
    The Shiloh Christian Church will be hosting a summer gospel gathering June 8 at 6 p.m.
    Lots of great bluegrass and country gospel music will be performed by various local musicians, according to the church’s press release.
    “Join us for an evening of worship through music,” event organizers said.
    Shiloh Christian Church is located at 1122 Willisburg Road in Lawrenceburg.

    to host garage sale
    Sand Spring Baptist Church, located at 1616 Harrodsburg Road in Lawrenceburg, will have a garage sale Thursday, May 30 and Friday, May 31 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday, June 1 from 8 a.m. to noon.
    Many items will be available, according to the church’s press release, and all priced to sell.

Albert Mohler Jr. notes that, “ominous signs of moral collapse and cultural decay now appear on our contemporary horizon. A society ready to put the institution of marriage up for demolition and transformation is a society losing its most basic moral sense.”

    “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” (James 1:27)
    First century orphans were typically the children of widows; they were among the downtrodden of society.
    Today the term “orphan” has expanded to include those who have lost their parents, not just to death, but to drug and alcohol addiction, abuse and neglect.
