    I heard someone say that they once cried out, “Can things possibly get any worse?” They said that was meant to be a rhetorical question, and not a challenge.

    Have you ever heard the testimony of Nick Vujicic? If not, I think you should. Nick was born in Melborne, Australia in 1982 to very Godly parents. His dad was a preacher.

    Nick was born without any limbs. No arms or legs.

  • Blackhawk pilot to share story

    Jeff Niklaus, who took part in the real-life mission that inspired the movie “BlackHawk Down,” will share his story at 6 p.m. June 26 at Anderson Christian Church.

    “Jeff weaves his faith into his story,” Brandon Dulaney, head minister at Anderson Christian Church, said. “He shares from lessons learned and experiences gained and doesn’t shy away from sharing God’s role in his life.”

    “Pets Unleashed” is the theme for vacation Bible school at First Church of God from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 11.

    All children are welcome.

  • Smith to be honored for 34 years

    Second Christian Church will celebrate Pastor R.E. Smith’s 34th pastoral anniversary at 11 a.m. June 5.

    A luncheon celebration in the fellowship hall will follow morning worship.

    Smith and his wife Verna will be honored.

    The celebration is being hosted by the Second Christian Church Usher Board. Minister Carr, associate pastor at High Street Christian Church in Mount Sterling, will be the guest speaker.

    The public is invited to attend.

    In last week’s article, I commented that “I have to remind myself daily, that God is in control, even in the chaos.”

    Last Sunday, a preacher friend of mine — Terry Cooper gave a great explanation for what I, along with many, are feeling as we see events unfolding that are difficult to understand.

    Terry explained it like this, “This thing looks totally out of control. Events in America are seemingly spiraling totally out of control. The culture has shifted. The church is our source for truth.

    God chose you before the beginning of time. He knitted you together in your mother’s womb. Men, by there very nature, reject God. Perishing humanity and limitless love.

    God provided a rescue plan for sinful condemned men. He did for us what we could not do for ourselves. He sent his son — a rescue plan of love.

    Sand Spring Baptist Church is offering basic medical testing and information from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 28.

    Nurses will be available to check blood pressure and blood glucose.

    A pharmacist will be available to review medications and answer questions.

    Bring prescription bottles or a list of medication, including any over-the-counter medicines.
