  • How did our country get to where it is today?

Where in the Constitution of the United States does it give the government control of public toilets?

When did we give up the rights of 98 percent of the population of this country to protect the preferences of the 2 percent of the population that claim to be homosexual or trans-gender?

Whatever happened to common sense, respect for others, and common human decency?

I sometimes feel that I have lived to be too old. I have seen changes take place in our country that I would have never thought possible only a few years ago.

    Who are you in Christ?

I appreciate Mr. Thompson’s focus on that question in last week’s column. No doubt about it that is an extremely important discovery to grasp. But, there is another side of the coin you equally need to grasp — who is Christ in you?

Why is this other side so important?

  • Don’t fall for the enemy’s fake religion

Is the enemy capable of producing a fake, counterfeit religion? Absolutely. If the enemy, Satan, can get well-meaning people to believe that by doing a thing — sitting on a church pew for a couple of hours a week — is a proper response and all that is necessary to be in a right relationship with God, he has succeeded.
I have heard it said like this: “Sitting in a hen house don’t make you a chicken.”

  • What’s important in your life?

Many years ago, I befriended an elderly gentleman who lived in a nursing home near Dresden, Tennessee.

Mr. Garner was in his mid-80s, with failing health but had a very sharp mind.

Frequently, if I was in Dresden on business, I would go by the nursing home and take Mr. Garner with me as I did my business to give him a break form his bleak living conditions.
