  • What a difference the resurrection makes

    A story is told of an event that took place in the villages of northern India where a missionary was preaching in a marketplace.
    As he finished, a Muslim gentleman came up and said, “You must concede we have one thing you have not, and it is better than anything you have.”
    The missionary smiled and said, “I would like to hear what it is.”
    The Muslim said, “You know when we go to Mecca we at least find a coffin. But when you Christians go to Jerusalem, which is your Mecca, all you have is an empty grave.”

    Methodist Church hosts egg hunt
    The Lawrenceburg United Methodist Church hosted a community wide Rock-N-Roll Easter Egg-stravaganza and egg hunt March 24.
    “With almost 250 from the Anderson County community and God 1st Athletic League in attendance, the children were delighted with face painting, crafts, carnival style games and prizes, a photo booth and sweets shop,” according to event organizers.

    He writes, “One ran after another up a large mound of sand. Unfortunately, the mound was not solid, and their weight caused them to sink in quickly.

  • Godly men must be careful to preserve the family unit

    The family has fallen on hard times. Now I don’t mean every family unit is suffering; the institution of the family, however, as God ordained it, is suffering. My wife and I are foster and adoptive parents. This has opened our eyes to the reality of hurting families. It is this ministry that has caused me to have a burden in my spirit to walk closer to God.

    New Liberty Christian announces events
    New Liberty Christian Church has set March 24 as “bring a friend’ day, according to a news release.
    ‘The church uses one Sunday each year to encourage the members to invite a friends who they work with or lives near their residence,” event organizers said. “The goal for this special day is ‘100.’”
    The New Liberty Christian Church is planning a pictorial church directory, according to the church’s news release.

    The Salt River Independent Baptist Church, located at 1126 Salt River Road in Lawrenceburg, will host the southern gospel group “Destiny” from Brownstown, Ind., on March 16 at 6 p.m.

  • Need the light of Christ to drive out the darkness

    “…God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.” (1 John 1:5)
    Craig Larson tells the story of an old desert nomad who awoke one night to a growling stomach. He lit a candle and began eating dates from a bowl beside his bed. He took a bite from one end and saw a worm in it, so he threw it from the tent. He bit into the second date, found another worm, and threw it away as well.
    Thinking that he wouldn’t have any dates left to eat if he continued, he blew out the candle and ate the remaining dates.
