  • God, not you, is responsible for success

    As I sit here this overcast Sunday afternoon, pondering and praying I will provide a message this week that will glorify God, my mind drifts to faith.
    Just exactly who do you and I put our faith in? How often do I pray and thank God for his blessings, yet in the back of my mind I still comfort myself with my own achievements and possessions.
    After all, what accomplishments or material items do I have which were not given me by the almighty God, my creator?
    Yet I often reflect on how much money I have in my checkbook, knowing my bills will be paid.

    New Hope Baptist announces events
    The recipient of this year’s Lyndsey DeLaney Bowman Scholarship is Ryan Roy Ratliff, who will receive $1,000 toward his education.
    He is a sophomore at the University of Kentucky, where he is on the track and field team.
    John Boren Jr. has completed boot camp for the United States Navy. He now moves on to the next stage of his military career.
    Saturday, June 23 is church-wide fishing day at Wayne Lane's Farm in Lawrenceburg.

    New Hope Baptist
    announces coming events
    New Hope Baptist Church has announced the coming events.
    Sunday, June 10 will begin “Summer Time Sunday Nights” at 6 p.m. for kids ages 3 through fifth grade.
    On June 13, congregation members will be leaving New Hope at 9:45 a.m. to deliver bananas and fellowship with Heritage Hall residents in Lawrenceburg.
    All are welcome to come join this ministry.

  • Follow Christ’s order to get out and go to all ends of the earth

    One of my fellow church members left his family last week and went to work on an orphanage in Haiti.
    Last Sunday at church, a very close friend and preacher visited and spoke about his decision for he and his wife to sell all of their possessions and move closer to the front of the mission field in Mexico, where they will serve in their later years (They are in their late 50s.)
    Folks, this is not what special Christians do. This is what our Lord Jesus commands you and I to do.

    Freedom Baptist Church will hold a vacation Bible school June 4-8 from 6:15-8:15 p.m. each day.

  • Obama decision another example of how America is abandoning God

    My words here today are spiritual in nature, but unfortunately do touch on politics, which I generally despise.
    In God We Trust is an interesting part of America’s heritage. It’s hard to believe the greatest nation on earth, founded with such spiritual values, has all but abandoned God.
    Either God is who he says he is or he is not. We can either choose to follow his words and commands or we can suffer the consequences.
