    Fellowship Baptist to celebrate 75 years

    Homecoming revival to celebrate Fellowship Baptist Church’s 75th year at its current location is scheduled for Oct. 14-18 at the church, located at 1819 Hammonds Creek Road.

    Evangelist will be Alan Witham.

    Nightly concerts are scheduled for 6:30, followed by services at 7 with dinner served on the grounds.

    Performing Wednesday, Oct. 14 will be The Hilltop Trio.

    Special singing will be featured Thursday, Oct. 15, and The Patriot Quartet will perform Friday, Oct. 16.

  • Claylick celebrates heritage, fellowship

    Digging into a steaming cup of burgoo and listening to some gospel music is how folks spent their Monday evening at Claylick United Methodist Church.

    The event goes back as far as most folks can remember.

    “There are those who remember this all the way to World War II, said Pastor Shannon Blosser. “It’s been going on at least a good 70 years.”

    The church, as usual, enlisted the help of Davey Warford, whose family has prepared the tasty stew for several generations.

    Revival at First Baptist

    First Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg will hold revival services Sept. 27-30, the church announced.

    John Franklin, a nationally known speaker in the area of prayer and spiritually healing, will speak.

    “His passion is to provide conferencing and resources to arouse God’s people to seek him for personal and national revival,” according to a news release from the church.

    Central Baptist to celebrate anniversary

    Central Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg will celebrate its 25th anniversary Sept. 19-20.

    The Sammy Glass Family will sing Saturday, Sept. 19 at 6 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 20 at 10 a.m., followed by a special 25th anniversary celebration service at 11.

    A potluck meal will follow the Sunday morning service.

    The church is located at 1958 U.S. 127 Bypass North.

    Pastor Rick Clark invites all to attend.

    Penny’s Chapel Community Church will celebrate its anniversary Sept. 20, the church announced.

    Sunday school begins at 10 a.m., followed by a worship service at 11.

    Sand Spring plans 3K run/walk

    Sand Spring Baptist Church will sponsor the “2 Fast 2 Furious” 3K run/walk race to be held Saturday, Sept. 12 from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Anderson County Community Park, the church announced.

    There is no entry fee, but donations will be accepted for local missions.

  • God’s mercy shows up in a variety of forms

    I’m sitting on a couch in Hershey, Penn., with my sister, my daughter and my granddaughter, watching the Food Network and thinking, “How weird is this?”

    We’re here on a partial family vacation since only part of our family is here. My sister flew in from California and my daughter, granddaughter and son-in-law drove up from Virginia. My husband and I flew up from Florida.

    We chose to meet in Hershey because we like chocolate. Also, the children of my husband’s late best friend live nearby and they’ve become family to us.

    Glensboro plans Sunday school program

    Glensboro Christian Church is in the process of restarting its Sunday school program, the church announced.

    Based off the “Close Encounter” curriculum, students who enter the program in kindergarten will cover the major stories and characters of the Bible by the end of their fifth grade year.
