    The Salvisa Baptist Church, located at US 127 and Kirkwood Road, will host its annual Spring Craft and Vendor Fair at the Christian Life Center on April 28 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. All proceeds will benefit Relay for Life and youth missions.

    God blesses us all with unique and different talents.
    Some are born leaders and teachers — others are musicians or song leaders.
    You have some who are blessed financially so they can give more to serve God and his kingdom.
    Then there is you. How do you use the talents God has blessed you with to honor God?
    Everyone has some talent or God-given ability to serve in some capacity, so there are no excuses if you are not in some way to serve.

  • God is only authority on scripture

    In response to my column two weeks ago regarding the authenticity of the Bible, I received an email from a reader.
    I always welcome emails from my readers, of course. This particular reader made claims that the Bible was actually property of the Catholic Church. The reader went on to elaborate that per the Catholic Church, the Bible was not the only writings of Christianity.
    Finally, my correspondent said we know this to be true since the Roman Catholic Church says so.
    Now, not to pick at other religions, but this doesn’t hold water for me.

  • Anderson Christian grows produce for Open Hands food pantry

    The Roots Garden Ministry of Anderson Christian Church will host a dedication service on April 14 at 9 a.m. at the church.
    According to the church’s press release, “The Roots Garden Ministry of Anderson Christian Church is a vegetable garden at the church for the community’s food pantry Open Hands. The garden is being grown through volunteer labor from the church and supplies donated by local businesses and individuals. The Dedication Service will be the day we dedicate the garden and plant the first seeds.”

    Sovereign Grace hosts simulcast on April 6
    Sovereign Grace Church will host a live simulcast of David Platt’s Secret Church on April 6 from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m.
    According to event organizers, “Platt is the author of the best selling book, “Radical,” and is a dynamic preacher.
    “The topic will be ‘The Cross and Suffering,’ and how the gospel strengthens, sustains, supports and ultimately satisfies us in the middle of suffering.”

  • Skeptics, take note of Bible’s accuracy

    When speaking with others about the word of God, I often run into skeptics who say that the Bible has been changed over time.
    They say that King James translated it into his own version, and that it’s not wholly accurate.
    Sadly for the many that I hear make such foolish statements, the Bible is real and accurate. Let me tell you why I believe this, and so should you.
    There are more than 5,000 New Testament transcripts today, some of which have been documented as dating back to the second century.

  • Do you really know who Jesus was?

    Who was Jesus Christ?
    Recently, a local man told me how Jesus was less than God, according to his beliefs.
    This pained me deeply because Christ is above all.
    Most professing Christians believe he was the son of God who died on the cross for our sins.
    We know of his life story how he raised the dead, walked on water, healed the sick, and even forgave sin.
    But did you know that he is actually God? Don’t take my word for it, let’s see what some of the scriptures tell us about the supremacy of Jesus.
