  • Prayer walk planned at high school

    A prayer walk is planned to take place at Anderson County High School on the third Sunday of each month at 2 p.m.

    The next scheduled prayer walk is Sunday, Jan. 16.

    Walkers can meet at the front doors, and the walk will proceed through the school to pray for the high school students and “ask God to open doors for them,” organizers said in a news release.

  • Ninevah Christian Church worship center on track to open in April

    Ninevah Christian Church, located at 1195 Ninevah Road, recently completed the outside construction phase of its new 740-seat worship center.

  • Westside Community announces January events

    Westside Community Church recently announced its events and services for the month of January.
    On Saturday, Jan. 8, the youth will take a trip to the Georgetown Pavilion. The group will leave the church at noon.
    During the 11 a.m. worship service on Sunday, Jan. 16, Glenis Sanders will be singing.
    On Tuesday, Jan. 18, the church will visit Heritage Hall for music and fellowship.
    Regular service times are Sunday at 10 a.m. for Sunday school, 11 for the morning worship service and 6 for the evening worship service.

  • Sand Spring plans New Year’s Eve concert

    Sand Spring Baptist Church will host a New Year’s Eve Southern Gospel Concert on Friday, Dec. 31.
    Food will be served on the second floor of the fellowship hall beginning at 6 p.m.
    The concert will start at 8 p.m. in the sanctuary and will end at 12:01 a.m.
    Donations for food will be accepted.
    A love offering will be taken for the groups during the concert.
    Groups performing are The Hilltop Trio of Lawrenceburg, The Patriot Quartet of Salvisa, The Shireys of Columbia, S.C., and Steve Ladd of Nashville, Tenn.

    Freedom Baptist Church is sponsoring a free fellowship meal at 5 p.m. on Christmas Day, Dec. 25.
    The church is located at 1010 Powell Taylor Road in Lawrenceburg.

  • Tucker completes health minister training

    Shawn Tucker of Lawrenceburg completed health minister training through Hallelujah Acres, a Christian-based health and wellness organization headquartered in Shelby, N.C., according to a news release.
    The health minister training program teaches participants the key components that contribute to a healthy diet and lifestyle, plus ways to share that information to others, the news release said. The training process also provides ways to communicate the importance of real nutrition that can help others take control of their health, according to the news release.

  • New Liberty announces Christmas programs

    New Liberty Christian Church is presenting a Christmas musical, “There is a Bethlehem,” on Sunday, Dec. 19 at 10:45 a.m.
    “The musical is a simple drama to tell the story of Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem,” according to a news release from the church.
    Becky Stoddard is the director.
    The youth of the church will present the Christmas story in the evening service at 5:30 p.m.
    “An invitation to attend these special services is extended by the congregation,” the news release said.
