This old funeral coach marked the end of the Sidewalk Days parade back in Sept. 1964. The sidewalk days drew perhaps the largest crowd ever to throng the sidewalks of Lawrenceburg’s downtown area. This old conveyance was probably used between 1900 and 1910 and was owned by A.A. Barnett of Campbellsburg. Pulling the coach was a team, owned and driven by Elmo Bruner and accompanied by Vernon Record. The entry sponsored by Gordon Funeral Home was being checked by Parade Marshall Johnny Brown. Bruner, a former magistrate, was the father of Lucille Duncan, who was Anderson County Circuit Court Clerk for several years and wife of Robert Duncan, and Arlene Gregory, wife of Carl Gregory. Record was affiliated with the Gordon Funeral Home for many years. At one time Gordon Funeral Home was located toward the center of town and then moved into the larger Dowling Hall.
