  • Wedding: Wise-Case

    Julia LeNora Wise and William Chad Case were married Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at Ninevah Christian Church in Lawrenceburg. Pastor Terry Cooper officiated at the ceremony.

    The bride is a daughter of Ted and Jayne Wise of Lawrenceburg and the granddaughter of Elizabeth Clifton Gravitt and the late Turner Gravitt of Lawrenceburg, and Gloria Wise-Hall and the late Ralph Wise of Frankfort.

  • Legion Auxiliary hosts lunch with Santa

    American Legion Auxiliary Unit 34 hosted Lunch with Santa on Dec. 7, according to a news release.

    Mr. and Mrs. Santa arrived at the Legion on the fire truck to the joy of many children who awaited his arrival. Each child received a UK Santa hat and a toy when they came into the clubhouse.

    Hot dogs, chips, jelly sandwiches, fruit drinks, cookies and soft drinks were served to more than 200 people.

    A free Christmas lights display will take place from 5:30 to 10 p.m. through Dec. 31 in Salvisa.

    The display is located on Bondville Road.

    To get there, take US 127 to Kirkwood Road (Highway 1987) and travel about a half mile west on Bondville Road.

  • Harley wedding anniversary

    Jennie and Jewell Harley of Lawrenceburg will celebrate thier 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 20.

    The couple was married on Oct. 3, 1964.

    Mr. and Mrs. Harley are both retired.

    The Harleys will celebrate their anniversary 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20 at the Anderson Senior Center.

    All friends and relatives are invited. The couple requests no gifts.

  • Christmas home tour canceled this year

    From staff reports

    During the November Beta Sigma Phi meeting, Christmas Home Tour Chairperson Rita Phillips reported the group could not find homes for the tour. In response, members voted to cancel for this year, according to a news release.

    The program for the meeting, which was held at the home of Glenda Thompson, was given by Jane Hawkins, who discussed the season of fall and the history of jack-o’-lanterns.

  • Soil and water conservation scholarship deadline is fastly approaching

    Undergraduate agriculture or natural resource students enrolled in a college or university through the Kentucky Bluegrass Chapter region during the fall 2014 are eligible to apply for a Kentucky Bluegrass Chapter of Soil and Water Conservation scholarship, according to a new release.

    The scholarships offered are a $1,000 Bailey -Zimmerman Scholarship and a $1,000 Kentucky Bluegrass Chapter Scholarship.
