  • Lawrenceburg native honored by KSU

    Naomi Pleasant Barkley, a native of Lawrenceburg, was recently honored by Kentucky State University’s Cincinnati chapter and the national alumni as a prestigious and dedicated alumni member for “her unwavering commitment to and support of our beloved alma mater,” according to a press release.
    Barkley received honors during the March 1 performance of the KSU Concert Choir at Tryed Stone New Beginning Church in Cincinnati, Ohio.

    Floyd W.R.D. Meeks proudly announces the engagement of his parents, Samantha D. Meeks and Jonathan R. Liles.
    The wedding is scheduled to take place July 26, 2014.

    Heather Adams and Randy Adams of Lawrenceburg were married June 30, 2012, at 4 p.m. at Sand Spring Baptist Church.
    Dr. Mike Hamrick officiated. The bride was given in marriage by her mother and father.
    The bride is the daughter of Bobby and Betty Montgomery of Lawrenceburg. Grandparents of the bride are Deverl and the late Clyde Burns and Robert Montgomery and the late Virginia Perkins.
    The groom is the son of Ronald and Diane Adams of Loretto. Grandparents of the groom are Joyce and the late Frank Gibson and Shirley and the late Paul Adams.

    Jason and Jamie Alexander of Lawrenceburg announce the birth of their son, Wyatt Tomer Alexander, born Jan. 15, 2013, at St. Joseph East.
    He weighed 8 pounds, 10 ounces, and was 21 1/2 inches long.
    Maternal grandparents are Greg and Denise Cinnamon of Lawrenceburg. Maternal great-grandparents are Gene and Mary Ruth Cinnamon and Wilma  
    Flygstad.
    Paternal grandparents are Bob and Cammie Alexander of Lawrenceburg. Paternal great-grandparent is Hazel Smith.

  • Engagement: Downing-Davis

    Kenneth and Gayla Powell of Lawrenceburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Jennifer Downing of Lawrenceburg, to Edward Davis of Frankfort, son of Helen Davis and the late James Davis of Frankfort and the grandson of Mattie Duncan of Frankfort.
    The bride is a 1998 Anderson County High School graduate and a 2012 graduate of Bluegrass Community and Technical College in human services.
    She is currently employed by St. Paul United Methodist Church as an administrative assistant.

  • Friends of the library to meet

    Friends of the Anderson Public Library is scheduled to meet March 13 at 5:30 p.m. at the library, the organization announced.
    New members are welcome.
    The group meets the second Wednesday of the month at the library at 5:30 p.m.
    If there is no school, there will be no meeting.

    Josh and Brook Drury of Lexington announce the birth of their daughter, Avery Jane Drury, born Dec. 6, 2012 at Central Baptist Hospital.
    She was 6 pounds, 8 ounces and was 18 3/4 inches long.
    Maternal grandparents are Eddie and Kitty Stevens of Mt. Eden. Maternal great-grandparents are Emma Jean Stevens, Eugene and Norma Royalty and Bobby Hale.
    Paternal grandparents are Ricky and Karlene Drury of Lawrenceburg. Paternal great-grandparents are Mark and Emma Drury.

    Amanda and Brandon Brown of Lawrenceburg announce the birth of their son, Lucas Harley Brown, born Jan. 16, 2013, at Frankfort Regional.
    He weighed 8 1/2 pounds and was 20 1/2 inches long.
    Big brother Jacob Hunter, 2, welcomed Lucas home.
    Maternal grandparents are Kerry and Barbie Markwell of Lawrenceburg. Maternal great-grandparents are Alpha Harley and the late Walter Harley.
    Paternal grandparents are Mark and Rhonda Brown of Lawrenceburg. Parent great-grandparents are Bill and Nancy Brown and Brenda Perry.

    Russ and Morgan Drury of Lawrenceburg announce the birth of their daughter, Izzabella Layne Drury, born Jan. 22, 2013, at Central Baptist.
    She weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces and was 20 3/4 inches long.
    Maternal grandparents are Tammi and David Jenkins of Lawrenceburg and Tracey and Robert Bonzo of Bardstown. Maternal great-grandparents are Pat and Teddy Brothers, Cheri and Steve Young, Beverly and Don Bonzo, and Ruby and Dennis Oaks.
