  • Stars of the Bluegrass pageant and baby contest to be held

    The Stars of the Bluegrass Baby Contest and Pageant will be held July  1 at the Lions Club Shelter at Anderson Dean Park in Harrodsburg.   
    Register at the door beginning at 1 p.m.  The event celebrates America's  Independence Holiday. There are divisions for girls ages newborn to 22 years of age and divisions for boys ages newborn to 6 years old. The event is being hosted by the Miss Kentucky Teen America Organization.

  • Weddings: Duckwall-Rearden

    Cameron Lee Duckwall and Larry Christian Rearden were married on May 12, 2012, in Salvisa, The Rev. Will Cooper of Ninevah Christian Church officiated.  
    Parents of the couple are Terry and Leslee Duckwall and Bill and Yann Rearden.
    Grandparents of the bride are Larry and Loretta Maddox.
    The matron of honor was Crystal Lynn Brakefield. Bridesmaids were Laken McGuffin, Shanna Turner, Kalissa Yates and Katelyn Welch. The flower girl was Taryn Duckwall, and the ringbearers were Aiden Turner and Rowdy Duckwall.

    Ricky and Courtney Yates of Lawrenceburg announce the birth of their daughter, Adalynn Elise Yates, born May 7, 2012, at St. Joseph East hospital.
    She weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long.
    Big sister Cailie, 1, welcomed Adalynn home.
    Maternal grandparents are Steve and the late Becky Sea of Lawrenceburg.
    Paternal grandparents are Ricky Yates, Sr., and Tammy Hayes of Campbellsville.
    Maternal great-grandparents are the late Namon and Louise Sea and the late Bill and Eunice Robinson.

  • Engagement: Wilder and Crosthwaite

    Wayne and Lisa Wilder of Lawrenceburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Nicole Clarice Wilder, to Wesley Allen Crosthwaite, son of Dean Minnix and Jimmy Crosthwaite.
    The bride is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and is employed at the Kentucky Department of Revenue.
    The groom attended the University of Kentucky and is employed at Kentucky Retirement Systems.
    The wedding will take place June 16, 2012, at 6:30 p.m. at Sand Spring Baptist Church.

    Bobby and Betty Montgomery of Lawrenceburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Heather Leann Montgomery, to Randy Joel Adams of Lexington, son of Ronald and Diane Adams of Loretto, Ky.
    Grandparents of the bride are Robert L. Montgomery and Virginia Perkins of Lawrenceburg and Deverl and the late Clyde Burns of Willisburg, Ky.
    Grandparents of the groom are Shirley and the late Paul Adams of Loretto, and Joyce and the late Frank Gibson of Bardstown.

  • Anniversary: Works

    Bob and Sandy Works will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 1.
    They were married on June 1, 1962 in Bonita Springs, Fla., at Lee Memorial United Methodist Church. Bob was an active duty Marine stationed at Quantico, Va. Sandy was a stenographer with the Department of Defense Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. After release from active duty, they moved home to Lexington where Bob served with the Lexington Fire department from 1964-1994 and retired as Battalion Chief.

    Michael Todd and Renée Evans of Lawrenceburg announce the engagement of their son, Michael Ryan Evans, to Alex Winn-Marvin, daughter of Debbie and Tom Marvin of Lexington.
    Grandparents of the groom are Jim and Liz Evans and Janice Presley, all of Lawrenceburg, and Bill and Barbara Kremer of Louisville.
    A summer wedding is scheduled.
     

  • Engagement: Ruble and Dean

    Rusty and Karen Ruble of Lawrenceburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Sarah Nicole Ruble, to James Ryan Dean, son of Harold Dean and Kim Bowman of Lawrenceburg.
    Grandparents of the bride are Betty and the late John Benningfield, Gary and Maxine Stinnett, and Clayton and Shirley Ruble, all of Lawrenceburg.
    Grandparents of the groom were the late James and Ocie Bowman and the late Chester and Ruby Dean.

  • Anniversary: Brown

    Glenn and Cecelia Brown will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on May 19.
    The Browns were married on May 19, 1962 at Fox Creek Christian Church. Rev. James Evans officiated.
    Cecelia is the daughter of Eunice Searcy and the late Thomas Searcy.
    Glenn is the son of the late Vergie and Marvin Brown.
    The couple have two children, Jennifer (Tom) Canary of Versailles and Janice Brown of Versailles. They have three grandchildren, Thomas Canary, Cecille Canary and Dillon Burkhead, all of Versailles.
