Oneita Moffett Perry and Alvin Huston Perry of Lawrenceburg will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Dec. 23 with a reception at the Anderson Senior Citizens Center from 2-4 p.m.
A judge at the courthouse married the Perrys on Dec. 20, 1952.
The couple has several nieces and nephews from Harrodsburg, Georgia and Indiana.
Oneita is retired, and was employed for more than 40 years with Lawrenceburg National Bank as a teller, vice president and member of the board of directors.
Megan Alisa Webb, daughter of Sammy A. Webb, recently earned the national title for National American Miss for the Teen age division.
According to a press release, Webb will be traveling across the country this summer representing the National America Miss Pageant Program. She will also receive an all-expense paid trip to the National Pageant in Anaheim, Calif., next Thanksgiving week to crown her successor.
Nellion Wells Hahn will celebrate her 90th birthday with an open house in her honor on Dec. 16 from 2-4 p.m. in the Fireside Room at First Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg.
Hahn was born Dec. 16, 1922. She is the daughter of the late Cecil and Hester Wells and the wife of the late Gilbert Hahn. She has two sons, Burtice (wife Linda) Hahn of Lawrenceburg and Gilbert Ray Hahn of Louisville.
No gifts requested, just the presence of family and friends to celebrate this occasion.
Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense agency, is now accepting nominations for the 2013 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award.
The Freedom Award is the nation’s highest award for civilian employers that support their employees serving in the National Guard and Reserve. Nominations may be submitted by guardsmen, reservists or family members acting on their behalf at www.FreedomAward.mil through Jan. 21, 2013.
Rebecca Fryman and Troy Metcalf announce the engagement of their daughter, Jennifer Dawn Metcalf, to Jacob Smith, son of Lori McKinney and Glenn Smith.
The ceremony will be held Dec. 22, 2012, at Alton Christian Church at 4 p.m., with a reception to follow at Eagle Lake Convention Center.
The couple will reside in Colorado where the groom is stationed in the military.
Howard Curtis and Mildred Jones Whitehouse will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 21.
The couple met while they were employed by the Kentucky Department of Highways Central Office in Frankfort.
They were married on Thanksgiving eve on Nov. 21, 1962 at Great Crossing Baptist Church in Georgetown, with the Rev. Eugene Reynolds officiating.
Mildred retired from the Department of Highways in 1965.
Howard retired from the University of Kentucky in 1992.
Local businessmen Adam Shrout and Chase Parker of Talk of the Town recently raised more than $1,500 in donations for the Anderson Humane Society, according to a press release from the Humane Society.
Shrout and Parker joined with Lovers Leap Vineyard and Winery to hold a fundraising event on Oct. 20. Visitors got to sample local wines and Talk of the Town’s food, and buy raffle tickets for prizes donated by local businesses, including a large framed turkey print from the Frame Clinic and a gift basket from Four Roses Distillery.
Ralph and Wanda Breeding are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on Nov. 3 with an open house reception Nov. 11 at First Baptist Church.
Ralph married the former Wanda Sparks on Nov. 3, 1952, in Wilmington, Del.
