Jerry and Shirley Hurst celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a cruise to the Bahamas and a special dinner.
They were married in Dearborn, Mich., on March 17, 1961. They returned to her home state of Kentucky in 1972, settling in Lawrenceburg in 1975.
Shirley was the owner and operator of His and Her Beauty Salon and worked for the KACo self insurance fund prior to her retirement.
Jerry is a tool and die maker and was employed by YKK Snap Fasteners in Lawrenceburg for 32 years before retiring in 2006 as the machine shop manager.
Jimmie and Margaret Currens will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception at Beaumont Inn in Harrodsburg.
The reception is scheduled for March 27 from 2 to 4 p.m. All friends are relatives are invited, and the couple requests no gifts.
The were married March 25, 1961.
She is retired from Cricketeer in Harrodsburg. He is retired from IBM in Lexington.
They are the parents of Terry Currens of Harrodsburg and Keith Currents of Lawrenceburg. Their grandchildren are Jesse and Kaci.

Harold and Ruby Akins of Bardstown celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary March 2.
They were married March 2, 1951 in Anderson County at the home of the Rev. Don W. Kruschurtz. They have lived in Bardstown since April, 1956.
He is retired from the US Post Office. She is retired from NuKote International. They are members of Bardstown United Methodist Church.
They have two daughters, Jacque Keith of Westchester, Ohio, and the Rev. Harriett Akins-Banman of Little Rock, Ark.
They have two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

They were married at the First Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg on Feb. 25, 1951.
Soon after their marriage, they moved to Lexington and lived there until 1968. They spent the rest of their working years in South Dayton, Fla.
