  • Hamon-Wooldridge

    J. Hill and Ruth Ann Hamon of Frankfort announce the marriage of their daughter, Kristen Ruth to Andrew Scott Wooldridge, son of Kim Wooldridge and Scottie and Faye Wooldridge of Frankfort. The ceremony took place May 24 at the Bridgeport Christian Church with  reception following at the Frankfort Country Club.

    Mrs. Wooldridge is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with bachelor’s degree in journalism and a minor in psychology.  She is employed by Buffalo Trace Distillery as the public relations assistant manager.

  • State employees return local resident to Personnel Board

    The Kentucky Personnel Board recently conducted an election to fill two seats for state merit employees.

    The other five members are appointed by the governor. Ballots were sent to approximately 26,000 state employees, and included 23 candidates with the top two elected to the Personnel Board.

    Larry Gillis, of Lawrenceburg, finished first in the balloting and will return to the Personnel Board for the next four years.

  • Birth:Groothedde

    Heather and Chris Groothedde announce the birth of their son, Connor Robinson Groothedde born July 8, 2014 at 5:05 p.m. at Spartanburg Regional Hopsital in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

    Connor weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces, and was 19.5 inches long.

    Sibling Ryleigh Faith, 3, welcomed Connor home.

    Maternal grandparents are Billy and Amy Fint of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. Maternal great-grandparents are Gordon and Pinkie Clark; Bill and Bessie Fint.

  • WEDDINGS: York-Fryar

    Katelyn Elizabeth York, daughter of Richard and Elizabeth York of Lawrenceburg, and Michael Edwin Fryar, son of Alan Fryar and Carol Ruthven of Lexington, were married at 7 p.m. on June 7, 2014.

    The bride is a granddaughter of Jim York, the late Vicki Shelburne York; the late Dr. Lewis Wash and Doris Wash.

    The groom is the grandson of William and Mary Alice Fryar; Amy Ruthven and the late Melvin Ruthven.

    The wedding and reception took place at the home of the bride’s parents in Lawrenceburg.

  • ENGAGEMENT: Scrogham-Bush

    Alicia Bren Scrogham, daughter of David and Sherri Scrogham of Lawrenceburg, and Jason Bush, son of Terry and Patsy Bush of Lawrenceburg, announce their engagement.

    The wedding date is set for for Saturday, Oct. 11, at 2:30 p.m. at the Downtown Green in Wilmore.

    John David Thorpe of Hazard and Kimberly Dawn Phillips of Lawrenceburg announce their marriage on June 7, 2014 in the hometown of the bride. The couple was joined in marriage at the home of the bride’s mother in Honeysuckle Estates.

    The outside ceremony was officiated by Rev. Bob Karsner. The bride was presented in marriage by her father. The bride was attended by matron of honor Robin Sutcliffe and bridesmaid Kayla Tracy.

  • Red Cross officials: Need for donors urgent

    The American Red Cross is facing a looming blood shortage, leading to an urgent need for donors of all blood types to roll up a sleeve and give, officials said in a news release.

    Donations were down about eight percent over the past 11 weeks, resulting in about 80,000 fewer donations than expected.

    She is the granddaughter of Stewart and Nancy Brown of Lawrenceburg and Ronald and the late Dora Sawyer of Creswell, N.C.

    The groom-to-be is the son of the late Jeff and Charlotte Settles of Mackville.

    He is the grandson of Everett Lee and Anna Florence Russell and the late Harry, “H”, and Norma Settles both of Mackville.
