  • Anniversary: Jimmie and Margaret Currens

    Jimmie and Margaret Currens will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception at Beaumont Inn in Harrodsburg.
    The reception is scheduled for March 27 from 2 to 4 p.m. All friends are relatives are invited, and the couple requests no gifts.
    The were married March 25, 1961.
    She is retired from Cricketeer in Harrodsburg. He is retired from IBM in Lexington.
    They are the parents of Terry Currens of Harrodsburg and Keith Currents of Lawrenceburg. Their grandchildren are Jesse and Kaci.

    Paisley Lane McCourt
    Lanessia and Cole McCourt of Lawrenceburg announce the birth of a daughter, Paisley Lane McCourt, born Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011 at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
    She weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces and was 20 inches long.
    Maternal grandparents are Shawn and Candy Caldwell and Sondra Kay Wilson, all of Lawrenceburg. Maternal great-grandparents are Betty Baxter, Aileen Caldwell and Don Hill of Lawrenceburg and the late Garland Baxter, James (Wop) Caldwell and Carol Hill.

  • Harold and Ruby Akins

    Harold and Ruby Akins of Bardstown celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary March 2.
    They were married March 2, 1951 in Anderson County at the home of the Rev. Don W. Kruschurtz. They have lived in Bardstown since April, 1956.
    He is retired from the US Post Office. She is retired from NuKote International. They are members of Bardstown United Methodist Church.
    They have two daughters, Jacque Keith of Westchester, Ohio, and the Rev.  Harriett Akins-Banman of Little Rock, Ark.
    They have two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

  • Anniversary: J.W. and Thelma O. Whitaker

    J.W. and Thelma O. Whitaker celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Feb. 25.
    They were married at the First Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg on Feb. 25, 1951.
    Soon after their marriage, they moved to Lexington and lived there until 1968. They spent the rest of their working years in South Dayton, Fla.
    J.W. worked in the automotive industry and Thelma worked at General Electric.
    After they retired, they relocated to the St. Johns River and pursued their love of fishing, boating, flea markets and yard sales.

  • Birth: Sophia Page Winchell

    Katrina Pittman and Josh Winchell announce the birth of their first child, a daughter, named Sophia Page Winchell.

    She was born Monday, Jan. 24, 2011 at Frankfort Regional Medical Center in Frankfort.

    She weighed 6 pounds, 9 ounces and was 19 inches.

    Maternal grandparents are Phyllis and Jimmie Pittman of Lawrenceburg. Maternal great-grandparents are the late Shela and Marion Rucker, formerly of Lawrenceburg, and Flossie and Lee Pittman, formerly of Springfield.

  • Birth: Judah Michael Sebastian

    Judah Michael Sebastian was born Jan. 8, 2011 at Saint Joseph’s East Hospital.

    He weighed 8 pounds, 4 ounces and was 18 inches at birth.

    He is a son of Aaron and Ashley Sebastian of Lawrenceburg.

    Maternal grandparents are Ricky and Tammy Sparks of Lawrenceburg.

    Paternal grandparents are Tim and Lisa Sebastian of Lawrenceburg.

    Great-grandparents are Virginia and the late Orbery Darnell; the late Elbert and Olieen Sparks; Henry and Opha Sebastian; and Robert and Janice Harley, all of Lawrenceburg.

    She weighed 5 pounds, 14 ounces and was 18 inches long.
    She was welcomed home by a sister, Morgan Wells, 7.
    Her maternal grandparents are Sherry and Kevin Walker and Wayne Best, all of Lawrenceburg.
    Her paternal grandparents are Clevie Tackett and the late Debbie Daugherty of Georgetown.

    Marilyn L. and William A. “Bill” McDaniel Sr. of Lawrenceburg celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary over the weekend with a trip to Pigeon Forge, Tenn., with their children.

    Joe and Jennifer Rowsey of Lawrenceburg announce the birth of their son, Ryan Joseph Rowsey, on Dec. 11, 2010 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

    He weighed 8 pounds, 12 ounces and was 21 inches long.
    He was welcomed home by two brothers, Brandon, 16, and Matthew, 10, and a sister, Cassidy, 14.
    His maternal grandparents are Barbara D. Stratton and the late Ralph Stratton of Lawrenceburg.
    His paternal grandparents are Shirley Hibbard of Hamilton, Ohio, and Walter Rowsey of Wilmington, Ohio.
