    Kasey C. Mattox of Lawrenceburg and Brandon Flynn of Lawrenceburg were married May 10, 2013, at the Anderson County courthouse by Judge-Executive John Wayne Conway.
    The bride is the daughter of Kathleen E. Mattox and James F. Pennington, both of Lawrenceburg. The bride’s grandparents are Gary W. Mattox and Patricia C. Mattox.
    The bride and the groom are both 2012 Anderson County High School graduates.

    Compassionate Friends announce upcoming meetings
    The Compassionate Friends will host meetings for bereavement parents who have lost children of any age.
    Meetings are held on the first Thursday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and the third Monday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the hospice building, 643 Teton Trail in Frankfort.

    The Anderson County Library will offer the following free classes in May.

    Cookout at Kroger
    begins tomorrow
    Kroger will be hosting a three-day cookout beginning on tomorrow, Thursday, March 16 through Saturday, May 18 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. in front of the Lawrenceburg Kroger. All proceeds will benefit Relay for Life of Anderson County.

    Mayor John Lyons named Bill Young to the Lawrenceburg Police Department upon authorization of the city council.

    The Anderson County Farm Bureau announced plans to hold a large fish fry at the Legion Fairgrounds to benefit the Beaver Lake project.

    Miss Bernice Ruble and Johnny Giles were chosen queen and king of the annual Anderson High School Junior-Senior Prom. Charlotte Bowen and Jack Birdwhistell were chosen junior attendants. Wilma Dennis and Jimmy Atkins were senior attendants.

    Lawrenceburg Trinity Church of God changes service order
    Lawrenceburg Trinity Church of God is changing the order of its services, according to a press release. Starting Sunday, May 12, Sunday morning worship will begin at 10:30 a.m.
    Then starting on Wednesday, May 15, Sunday School classes will be held starting at 6:30 p.m.

  • Birth: Cunningham

    Shawna Rebecca Cunningham and James David Cunningham of Lawrenceburg announce the birth of their son, Carson Lee Cunningham, born April 29, 2013.
    He weighed 8 pounds, 2 ounces, and was 21.25 inches long.
    Big brother Bentley Cunningham welcomed Carson home.
    Maternal grandparents are Mike and Becky Copper of Lawrenceburg. Maternal great-grandmother is Edith Paterson of Lawrenceburg.
    Paternal grandparents are Warren and Nancy Cunningham of Lawrenceburg.

  • Shelby County high school reunion to be held July 20

    The Shelby County High School Class of 1978 is having its 35th class reunion July 20 at the Gallrein Farms Pavilion. Cocktails will be from 6-7 p.m. (BYOB with soft drink mixers provided.) The classmates’ dinner will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. At 8:30 p.m., the class will open the reunion to any member of the classes of 1977 and 1979 who would like to share memories and embellished stories with old friends, event organizers said. There will be a $5 cover charge to cover the cost of soft drinks and mixers.

  • Way We Were: First historical marker placed at Fox Creek

    50 YEARS AGO
    May 9, 1963
    The Kentucky Historical Marker Association erected a marker at Fox Creek, the first of several to be erected in Anderson County.
    Wyatt Shely, a member of the association, said that Anderson County afforded a higher than average percentage of troops in both Mexican and Civil Wars, and that graves of many distinguished leaders are not marked.
