  • Shiloh Christian Church Bible School set for July 19

    Shiloh Christian Church will host an all-day Vacation Bible School 9:00 am – 4:30 pm Saturday, July 19. 

    Children ages 3-12 are welcome to attend. All meals will be provided.  This year’s theme is  “Blast Off –Launching Kids on a Mission of God’s Love!” 

  • Glen and Jennifer Drury of Lawrenceburg announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Erin Drury of Pikeville to Johnny Meade III, son of Johnny Meade Jr. and Detrice Meade of Pikeville.

    The bride-to-be is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in child and family sciences.

    She is employed by the Pikeville Medical Center.

    She is a granddaughter of Josephine Sea.

    The groom-to-be is employed as a dispatcher for the Kentucky State Police.

    Sparrow style review champ

    Beulah Sparrow, 15, was chosen 4-H Style Review champion from 105 participants. She had just completed her freshman year at Anderson High School and had completed five years of 4-H work, carrying clothing, foods, electricity, woodworking and good grooming as her projects.

  • The rides have moved on to another county and the horses are cantering at other horse shows but the fair is far from over.

    The Home, Craft & Garden Fair will be held Tues., July 22, at the community building in the county park.

    Formerly known as Floral Hall and a part of the Lawrenceburg Fair & Horse Show, the Home, Craft & Garden Show is now a separate event and is still sponsored by the Anderson County Extension Homemakers.

    The fair is open to all Kentucky residents. There is no charge to enter or exhibits.

  • Sports & Arts Kids Camp

    First Christian Church will host a Mega Sports & Arts Kids Camp for children ages 4 through sixth graders July 13-16 5:30-8:30 p.m.

    There will be a variety of sports activities for kids to choose from, including basketball, baseball, soccer, softball, cheer and golf.

    Art classes are stain glass, woodwork, clay pots, painting and mosaics.

  • Tommy Vaughn brought his Civil War file by the office recently and had some additional information on the photo that ran June 18.

    He said he had been interested in Civil War history since a small boy.

    Most of the men in the photo fought for the Confederacy. Their names are on the Civil War statue in front of Anderson County Courthouse.

    Vaughn’s great-grandfather, John Paul Vaughn, was from Estill County, Ky.

  • Benefit Ride benefits Open Hands Food Pantry

    The Open Hands Community Food Pantry is sponsoring a benefit ride Sat., July 19.

    Registration starts at 11 a.m. and kick stands up at 12:30 p.m.

    The ride will begin and end at the pantry with all proceeds going to support the Pantry.

  • Collingsworth Family will host a concert

    On Sat., July 12, at 7p.m., the Collingsworth Family (Southern Gospel) will be in concert at Sand Spring Baptist Church, 1616 Harrodsburg Rd., Lawrenceburg KY.

    Doors open at 6 p.m. The cost is free but love offering donations will be accepted.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Jeremy Robinson of Fargo, N.D. announce the birth of their daughter, Olivia Mae Robinson, on June 5, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. at Essentia Medical Hospital in N.D.

    She weighed 8 pounds, 13 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    She is welcomed home by her sister Hannah, who is 23 months old.

    Her maternal grandparents are Pam and Carldon Lahay of Jacksonville, Fla.

    Her paternal grandparents are Jackie and Gerald Robinson of Lawrenceburg.

  • Together with their children Rhonda Borders Phillips, formerly of Washington County and now of Lawrenceburg, and Chris Whitaker of Lawrenceburg would like to announce their engagement and upcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of the late James Charles (J.C.) and Louise Beavers Borders Chesser and Leo Chesser.

    She is employed by the Sansbury Care Center as a food and nutrition service manager.

    The groom-to-be is the son of the late Paul and Reva Phillips Whitaker. He is employed by Legacy Carting.
