  • Elgeather and Clarence Sharp Jr. will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary Wed., May 28, 2014.

    They were married May 28, 1949 by Rev. M.H. Irvin at the Claylick United Methodist Church.

    Mrs. Sharp, the former Elgeather Davenport, is the daughter of the late Doran and Bertha Davenport of Salvisa.

    Mr. Sharp is the son of the late Alpha and Clarence Sharp of Taylorsville.

    They have two children - Wesley Sharp and his wife, Johanna, of Versailles and Patricia Sharp of Somerset, Ky.

    Ribbons presented at the 4-H style review for aprons included:

    Western — blue ribbons to Janet Stevens, Beth Blakeman, Lela Isham, Paula Sue Overstreet and Darrel Campbell. Red ribbons went to Gayle Moffett Gash and Debra Blakeman.

    Sand Spring — Charlene Gillis received a blue ribbon. Red ribbons went to Phyllis Ann Gregory, Barbara Drury, Ruth Ann Perry, Debra Thompson, Nancy Dean and Judy Cubert.

    The Anderson County Chamber of Commerce Golf Scramble will take place at Wild Turkey Trace Golf Course May 31 starting with breakfast at 8 a.m.

    A brand new car, plus several other hole-in-one opportunities, at stake, this year.

  • Mount Pleasant Baptist Church invites the public to join their Bible studies starting Sun., May 18, at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.

    The four week-long 11 a.m. service will be “Spiritual Warfare: Fighting to Win.”

    The four-week-long 6 p.m. service will examine “the Rapture,” “the Tribulation,” “the Kingdom and “From Time into Eternity.”
