Today's Features

  • Occasionally I clean out my column ideas folder and come across random notes and musings, sometimes written in the middle of the night, sometimes in the margin of a church bulletin during a song or sermon during a worship service.
    None of the ideas are big enough for a full-blown column, but they may be helpful to someone reading this. So, here are some random thoughts and miscellaneous musings:

  • Elizabeth Reid and Charles White of Lawrenceburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Lindsay White, to Lee Cook, son of Rose Cook and the late David Cook of Lawrenceburg.
    The bride-to-be’s grandparents are Shirley White and the late Calvin White, and the late Jim and Myrtie Reid.
    The groom’s grandparents are Joyce Cook and the late L.V. Cook, and Elizabeth Gibson and the late Jesse Gibson.

  • Amy and Charles Wilder of Lawrenceburg announce the birth of their daughter, Cailie Jo Wilder, on April 25, 2011, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
    She weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces and was 20 inches long.
    Big brother Caden, 5, welcomed Cailie home.
    Her maternal grandparents are Kenny and Debbie Goodlett of Lawrenceburg. Her paternal grandparents are Wayne and Lisa Wilder of Lawrenceburg.
     

  • Kim Cochran and James Robinson announce the birth of their daughter, Piper Madison Robinson, on April 5, 2011.
    She weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces and was 19 inches long.
    Her maternal grandparents are Lloyd and Cathy Cochran, Harlan. Her paternal grandparents are Ruth Murphy and Tommy and Ida Robinson, Lawrenceburg.

     

  • Shannon and Denise McElroy of Frankfort announce the birth of their daughter, Emery Michelle McElroy, on April 28, 2011 at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
    She weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces and was 20.25 inches.
    Big sister Anna Grace, 20 months, welcomed Emery home.

    Dennie Warford earned the right to head the Anderson County Democratic Party by calling “tails.”
    When the Anderson County Democratic committee voted to elect a new chairman, it came out six for Warford and six for Hollie Pieratt.
    “My high school football coach said the gentlemanly way to break a tie is to toss a coin and always call tails. We did and I won,” said Warford.

  • Homecoming at Pigeon Fork Baptist
    From staff reports
    Pigeon Fork Baptist Church will host its annual homecoming event June 26 at 11 a.m.
    Bro. Ray Cummins will preach and there will be dinner on the grounds.
    Special music will be presented by The Potter’s Clay and The Good Ole Boys at 1:30 p.m.
    Pigeon Creek Baptist Church is located at 5090 Hickory Ridge Road in Waddy.

    Grafenburg Christian hosts VBS
