    Second Sunday of Advent is scheduled for Dec. 5, followed Dec. 12 for Third Sunday of Advent. Lessons and Carols are scheduled for Dec. 19.

  • A concert featuring the singing group Potter’s Clay is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5 at Fairview Christian Church, the church announced.
    The group includes men and women from the Lexington area performing southern and contemporary gospel music, organizers said.
    The group, which has performed for over 14 years, includes Karen McDowell of Lawrenceburg.
    All are welcome.
    The church is located at 1730 Fairview Road, Lawrenceburg.

  • Mount Eden Christian Church will host its annual Community Breakfast on Dec. 11 from 8 to 11 a.m.
    The men of the congregation will prepare the food and Santa might make an appearance, according to a news release from the church.

    Nov. 17, 1960
    Alan Cooper was moved to the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington for treatment of burns about the body received while playing with a cigarette lighter at the home of his parents. Cooper, 5, is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Cooper who resided in the northwestern section of the county.

    Campbellsville University alumnus, Dr. Jeff Eaton, traveled from Anderson County to Russell County on Labor Day weekend for his annual guest speaking engagement at the church he founded at Lake Cumberland’s Jamestown Marina boat dock 21 years ago.

  • Fox Creek Christian Church will host its annual Thanksgiving Shoot Out 3-on-3 tournament on Saturday, Nov. 27 at 1 p.m. at the Fox Creek Christian Life Center.
    This will be a double elimination tournament with a 15 and under division and a 16 and over division.
    The entry fee is $20 per team and the proceeds will go toward bringing an Australian Junior team to the area in January for a mission opportunity.
