  • Mount Pleasant Baptist Church will hold its 169th Homecoming on Oct. 6, the church announced.
    The church was devastated by flooding in August when Puncheon Creek swelled an estimated 10 feet over its banks.
    Since then church members, volunteers and supporters have worked to get the church back into shape and that effort is nearly complete, church members said in announcing Sunday’s Homecoming event.

    The bride is the daughter of Eddie and Donna Miller of Frankfort. She is a 1999 graduate of Western Hills High School and is employed at Kroger in Lawrenceburg.
    The groom is the son of JB and Marcie Sutherland and Bill and Sabrina Sands of Lawrenceburg. He is a 1999 graduate of Anderson County High School and is a student at Bluegrass Community and Technical College in Lawrenceburg.
    He is employed at Best Western in Lawrenceburg.

    Compassionate Friends announce upcoming meetings
    The Compassionate Friends will host meetings for bereavement parents who have lost children of any age.
    Meetings are held on the first Thursday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and the third Monday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the hospice building, 643 Teton Trail in Frankfort.

  • Mount Moriah Baptist hosts sale
    Mount Moriah Baptist Church will host its last community yard sale of the season Sept. 28 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kentucky 53, Mount Eden.
    The yard sale will be held inside and out.
    There will be free set-ups and a concession stand for breakfast, lunch and snacks.

    Thursday, July 18, 1963
    Mr. and Mrs. Herman Peach received word that their son, Jimmie W. Peach, had been promoted to rank of SP/4. He was stationed in Germany and expected to return home in the next three months.

    Rita Lynn was crowned Miss Anderson County Fair. She had won the sweepstakes crown at the baby show just 15 years before when she was a toddler. Sandra Troxel was runner-up.

  • Sand Spring hosts special music
    The LeFevre Quartet and The Nelons will be in concert at Sand Spring Baptist Church, 1616 Harrodsburg Road, Lawrenceburg, on Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. Love offering will be given. Both musical guests have been on stage at the National Quartet Convention.
    The male Journeymen Quartet from Huntington, W.Va., will be in concert at Sand Spring Baptist Church, 1616 Harrodsburg Road, Lawrenceburg, on Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. Love offering will be given.

  • Robert and Donna Ferry of Lawrenceburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Brittany Allana Ferry of Lawrenceburg, to Matthew Allen Newton, son of Mark and Stacey Newton of Lawrenceburg.
    The bride is a 2006 Anderson County High School graduate and received a bachelor of arts in elementary education from Kentucky State University in 2012. She is currently employed by the Anderson County Board of Education as a substitute teacher.
