    Have you heard of catfishing?

    Several years ago, a young guy named Nev Schulman fell in love with a woman he “met” on Facebook. She was beautiful, a musician.

    Megan sent Nev photos of herself and MP3s of her songs. They talked on the phone — and he was smitten. So, of course he wanted to meet her.

    However, when he traveled from New York to Michigan to finally meet her, he discovered that Megan was really Angela, Megan’s stepmother.

  • Glensboro Christian Church will be opening its Heartbeat Hospital at Vacation Bible school on June 14-21.

    The hospital will start by having a kick-off Sunday, June 14 from 5-7 p.m. in the Church parsonage yard with games, prizes, hotdogs, chips, drinks, etc.

    Kicking off the week will be the prescreening exam and registration” in the “emergency room” on Sunday evening.

    “Why? Because I said so.”

    How many times in our lives have we heard those words or even uttered them ourselves?

    I wonder how many of us use these words without ever understanding what causes us to do so? That is where their significance lies.

     Many years ago as a learner, as a teacher and finally as a parent I finally decided to investigate why we use them. It all started when I first read the exchange between God and Abraham recorded in Genesis 22.

  • The Lawrenceburg Pierian Woman’s Club will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday evening at the Anderson Public Library, 114 N. Main St., Lawrenceburg.

    A discussion of the book “Tool and Die” will start at 6:30, with the business meeting following at 7. Entertainment will be provided by Sophia Grigsby and Laurel and Madison Wash.

    Guests are welcome.

    Cheesecake. For some cooks, the word incites a bit of trepidation.

    Perhaps it’s just fear of the unknown. Perhaps it’s because some consider this particular cake to be on the fancy, complicated end of the dessert spectrum and their skills aren’t quite on par.

    Thursday, May 20, 1965

    Lions officers

    New officers were elected in the Lions club.

    Donald R. Nowlin was named president to succeed Norman Hughes. Nowlin had been a member of the local club since October 1959 and had served as Lion Tamer, tail twister, Director and First Vice President.

  • Randy and Debbie Zimmerman of Lawrenceburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Courtney Zimmerman, to Austin Hart of Lawrenceburg.

    Their wedding is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. May 16 at Rabbit Creek BNB in Versailles.

    The bride-to-be is a 2008 graduate of Anderson County High School, a nursing student at Kentucky State University and a pharmacy technician at Walmart.

    The groom-to-be is a 2010 graduate of Anderson County High School and a corporal in the United States Marine Corps.
