  • Richard Lee and Drayma Maye (Carman) Holmes of 107 Djeddah Drive, Lawrenceburg, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception given by family.

    The event is scheduled from 3-5 p.m. June 14 at the Lawrenceburg First Baptist Church located at 111 N. Main Street in Lawrenceburg.

    The couple married June 13, 1964 at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Danville by the late Rev. Robert Lanham and the late Rev. Henry Hedgspeth.

  • Fellowship Baptist Church hosts Wildness Escape-themed bible school

    Fellowship Baptist Church will host vacation bible school June 16-June 20 from 6-8 p.m.

    This year’s theme is “Wilderness Escape where God guides and provides.”

    There will be crafts, snacks, music and a chance for kids to make new friends.

  • Amanda Denise Brewer of Lawrenceburg and Michael Lyn Wells of Frankfort announce their engagement and upcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of W. Dudley and Pattie Shryock of Lawrenceburg.

    She is the granddaughter of Wilma Shryock and the late Dudley Shryock and Janie Cogdill.

    She graduated from the University of Kentucky with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and is an accountant.

    The groom-to-be is the son of Donald and Rita Wells of Lawrenceburg.

  • Jerry and Betty Springate of Lawrenceburg announce the marriage of their daughter, Scarlett Lynn Springate, to David Cooker, the son of Paul and Carrie Cooker of Cincinnati.

    The bride is the granddaughter of Idell Springate Thurman and the late J.W. Springate. She is also the honorary granddaughter of Donna Gash.

    The ceremony was held May 24 at Disney World in Orlando, Fla.

    The bride and groom are 2009 graduates of the University of Kentucky.

  • Lori and Tim Wells of Lawrenceburg announce the birth of their son, Josiah Reed Wells, on May 10, 2014 at 11:59 a.m. at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

    He weighed 9 pounds, 10 ounces and was 21 inches long.

    He was welcomed home by his sisters - Abigail Grace Wells, 6, and Molly Kate Wells, 3.

    His maternal grandparents are Bill and Vonda Reed of Mount Sterling, Ky.

    His maternal great-grandparents are Herlis and Madeline Cole.

    His paternal grandparents Donald and Rita Wells of Lawrenceburg.

    Myrtle Ada Phillips, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Phillips of Bondville, won the Mercer County spelling bee. She was a fifth grader at Salvisa.

    The name of the late W.D. Mountjoy was enshrined on a plaque at Freedom Hall in the National Horse Show Hall of Fame.

    Anderson County High School graduation will be held Thurs., June 5, at 6:30 p.m. at the Civic Convention Center located at 405 Metro St., Frankfort KY 40601.

    Second Brigade Motorcycle Club hosts memorial run

    The Second Brigade Motorcycle Club is hosting its 5th Annual Memorial Run Sat., June 7.

    The Run will begin at S&B Cycles, 865 N. Main St. Lawrenceburg KY 40342.

  • Glensboro Christian Church will host its annual Vacation Bible School June 14-22.

    VBS kicks off Sat., June 14, with a wiener roast and games/prizes from 5-7 p.m. It will end with a closing program Sun., June 22.

    This year’s theme is Time-Stone Travelers – Quest for God’s 10 Commandments. Classes are held each night from 6:30-8:45 p.m.

    The mission is “A Mountain of Love,” whereby, each night, children will bring non-perishable food and/or household items for the Open Hands Ministry in Lawrenceburg.
