    Grocery robbery

    A handful of pennies, three cartons of cigarettes and six 3-pound sticks of peppermint candy were stolen from the E.A. Brown Grocery sometime last Friday night.

  • Happy New Year! There is something special about the beginning of a new year and all the possibilities it contains.

    Many will make resolutions for weight loss, better budgeting of money, opening their own business, going back to school, or finally cleaning out that one closet that plagues the entire house. However, of all the things on our proverbial list to accomplish, I pray a better relationship with Christ, takes priority.

    A local author will hold a book signing Jan. 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Antiques, Uniques & Metaphysics, located at 700 West Broadway No. 3 in Lawrenceburg, across from Dairy Queen, the store announced.

    Don Giles, a professor of philosophy and religion at St. Catharine College, recently released a book titled “The The Shao Lin Chronicles: The Wisdom of Bodhidharma,” according to the release.

    American Legion Auxiliary Unit 34 members attended the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce Christmas Gala on Dec. 6 where it received the inaugural award for Community Organization of the Year, according to a news release.

    Unit President Pam Brough is also president of the chamber. Member Rhonda Cotton is also a chamber board member.

    This was the first year the award has been given.
