    A free Christmas lights display will take place from 5:30 to 10 p.m. through Dec. 31 in Salvisa.

    The display is located on Bondville Road.

    To get there, take US 127 to Kirkwood Road (Highway 1987) and travel about a half mile west on Bondville Road.

    Ill with mumps

    Elaine Duncan, 12, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Duncan, was confined to her home with mumps.

    Jill Martin, 10, daughter of Shirley Martin, was ill with the mumps.

  • Claylick UMC to host Christmas Eve services

    Claylick United Methodist Church will host Christmas Eve services at noon and 10 p.m., the church announced.

    Both services will features familiar carols and retelling of the Christmas story. There will also be a special collection to benefit the Kentucky State University Wesley Foundation.

  • My father used to be a kickboxer. To this day, I can still remember him sparring.

    While wearing his giant red boxing gloves, suited up in his matching leather padded gear, he would stand there taking hit upon hit. I can recall the times when he would squint his brow and grit his teeth onto his mouth guard as his body was being struck. My father was invincible, strong; he was and still is my protector.

  • Jennie and Jewell Harley of Lawrenceburg will celebrate thier 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 20.

    The couple was married on Oct. 3, 1964.

    Mr. and Mrs. Harley are both retired.

    The Harleys will celebrate their anniversary 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20 at the Anderson Senior Center.

    All friends and relatives are invited. The couple requests no gifts.
