    The recipient of this year’s Lyndsey DeLaney Bowman Scholarship is Ryan Roy Ratliff, who will receive $1,000 toward his education.
    He is a sophomore at the University of Kentucky, where he is on the track and field team.
    John Boren Jr. has completed boot camp for the United States Navy. He now moves on to the next stage of his military career.
    Saturday, June 23 is church-wide fishing day at Wayne Lane's Farm in Lawrenceburg.

  • Cameron Lee Duckwall and Larry Christian Rearden were married on May 12, 2012, in Salvisa, The Rev. Will Cooper of Ninevah Christian Church officiated.  
    Parents of the couple are Terry and Leslee Duckwall and Bill and Yann Rearden.
    Grandparents of the bride are Larry and Loretta Maddox.
    The matron of honor was Crystal Lynn Brakefield. Bridesmaids were Laken McGuffin, Shanna Turner, Kalissa Yates and Katelyn Welch. The flower girl was Taryn Duckwall, and the ringbearers were Aiden Turner and Rowdy Duckwall.

  • Ricky and Courtney Yates of Lawrenceburg announce the birth of their daughter, Adalynn Elise Yates, born May 7, 2012, at St. Joseph East hospital.
    She weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long.
    Big sister Cailie, 1, welcomed Adalynn home.
    Maternal grandparents are Steve and the late Becky Sea of Lawrenceburg.
    Paternal grandparents are Ricky Yates, Sr., and Tammy Hayes of Campbellsville.
    Maternal great-grandparents are the late Namon and Louise Sea and the late Bill and Eunice Robinson.

    June 14, 1962
    Mike Blacketer suffered a fall from a sliding board Tuesday and suffered a fracture of his right leg.  
    He was admitted to the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington and returned home Wednesday.

    Sheriff John E. Birdwhistell summoned 60 prospective jurors for the opening of the June term of circuit court.

    announces coming events
    New Hope Baptist Church has announced the coming events.
    Sunday, June 10 will begin “Summer Time Sunday Nights” at 6 p.m. for kids ages 3 through fifth grade.
    On June 13, congregation members will be leaving New Hope at 9:45 a.m. to deliver bananas and fellowship with Heritage Hall residents in Lawrenceburg.
    All are welcome to come join this ministry.  

  • One of my fellow church members left his family last week and went to work on an orphanage in Haiti.
    Last Sunday at church, a very close friend and preacher visited and spoke about his decision for he and his wife to sell all of their possessions and move closer to the front of the mission field in Mexico, where they will serve in their later years (They are in their late 50s.)
    Folks, this is not what special Christians do. This is what our Lord Jesus commands you and I to do.
